NAHUC Certification Exam Job Analysis

The NAHUC certification examination is designed as a nationally administered comprehensive job-related objective examination. The examination measures knowledge and skills in areas of job performance.  The NAHUC Certification Board relies on a diverse group of certified health unit coordinators to determine the content outline of the exam.

The Certification Board has formed a Job Analysis Advisory Committee with the following certified health unit coordinators:  Angie White-Cole of OH, Charity Riley of AL, Cynthia Baker of GA, Cynthia Durbin of MO, Cynthia Holland of FL, Dana Carley of NH, Kathy Stearn of FL, Kathy Zimbal of WI, Kelly Francis of ID, Kristina Liwoch of NJ, Kurby Bennett of GA, and Nathan Fine of TN.

The basic responsibilities of the Job Analysis Advisory Committee will be to develop a Job Analysis task survey instrument and then review the survey results and determine the new test specifications and exam content outline.  The advisory committee members' input is crucial for a valid exam.  All meetings will be conducted by the testing agency, AMP, via WebEx over the Internet.

The first step is for our testing agency, AMP, to review the results of the current body of knowledge as described in educational curriculum, job descriptions, standards of practice, documents, and pamphlets and reference books produced by NAHUC and other industry related organizations.  From this information, AMP will write and assemble the draft survey. Then AMP will conduct a series of web meetings with the Advisory Committee to verify and modify the draft survey and rating scale.
