Description: Ambassadors are members who are loyal, true champions of the association’s overall brand and mission. An ambassador is a representative, promoter and campaigner of health unit coordinating and NAHUC.
Outcomes/Responsibilities: Act as Ambassador for NAHUC and the health unit coordinating profession. Network with staff in your facility and other facilities in your area. Share information about NAHUC certification and continuing education. Informational flyers are provided by the NAHUC office.

Time Commitment: Approximately 20 hours over a three-month period.

Description: Volunteers for this activity will support the delivery of continuing education contact hours to participating NAHUC members by receiving completed quizzes, correcting quizzes, and issuing contact hour certificates.
Outcomes/Responsibilities: Receive quizzes, score quizzes, return quizzes and issue contact hour certificates, and record contact hour certificate numbers.
Volunteer Criteria:
- Current NAHUC member.
- Must have a device with MS Office Suite, internet access, and email address.
- Proficient at using MS Excel.
- Able to receive and send paper mail at one’s primary residence or P.O. Box in continental U.S.
- Able to correct and issue certificates within three weeks of receipt over a two-month period.

Description: Volunteers for this activity are true champions who promote health unit coordinating and NAHUC through social media.
Outcomes/Responsibilities: Follow or subscribe to one or all of NAHUC’s social media accounts. Like and comment on NAHUC’s posts. Encourage others to comment on our posts and share them with others. Support NAHUC’s active social media campaigns and online fundraising activities. Spread NAHUC images, messaging and activities through personal social media networks.
Volunteer Criteria:
- Open to all regardless of member status or job title.
- Must have a device with internet access, and a working email address, and have the ability to create a personal account on one or more of the following social media platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube .
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following social media. platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
- Is familiar with using use social media and other online tools to engage members, donors, and corporate partners and generate interest.
- Large social media network is a plus, but not required.
- Outgoing, enthusiastic and creative.

Description: Volunteers for this activity will support the NAHUC Publication committee by proofreading “The Coordinator” for format, grammar, punctuation, and spelling, and relevance of content.
Outcomes/Responsibilities: A proofreader’s responsibilities include double-checking (and sometimes triple checking) works for errors and mistakes, such as:
- Typographical errors
- Inconsistencies in style or layout
- Awkward page and word breaks
- Missing punctuation and spelling mistakes; and
- Any other issues that might spoil the reading experience.
- Relevance of content to profession of health unit coordinating, healthcare community, and current medical knowledge.
Volunteer Criteria:
- Current NAHUC member.
- Must have a device with Adobe reader or MS Publisher, internet access, and a working email address.
- Ability to work independently.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Meet proofreading deadlines.
- Be able to receive documents to proofread electronically via email.

Description: A Social Media Specialist is responsible for creating content for social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, to grow an audience, engage new and existing members, and ultimately, promote the profession.
Outcomes/Responsibilities: Develop, write and edit innovative and creative media content for social media platforms. Perform research to find articles, stories, and resources, relevant to NAHUC to share with followers. Contribute creative ideas and develop strategies to increase followership and engagement.
Volunteer Criteria:
- NAHUC member status must be current.
- Must have a device with internet access, and a working email address, and have the ability to create a personal account on one or more of the following social media platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube .

Supporting Annual Education Conference

Description: Volunteers for this activity will support the delivery of continuing education to conference attendees by selecting from a variety of tasks that can be completed remotely or on-site at conference.

Outcomes/Responsibilities:
A list of key areas with brief descriptions follows. The needs for the Conference remain fluid. We never turn good help away!
Prior to conference (local/remote) volunteers are needed to:
- Promote the conference. Distribute conference flyer/brochure in person or via email to local contacts and colleagues. Flyers/brochures are provided electronically by the NAHUC office.
- Make copies. Handouts and other materials may need to be copied and brought to the conference.
- Solicit donations for “give-aways” at conference such as conference bags, freebies, or gift cards, and bring them to the conference.
During the conference, on-site volunteers are needed to:
- Monitor the sessions: Two people are needed for each session to assist at the sign-in table, handout evaluation forms, and collect evaluation forms after the session.
- Introduce and assist the speaker: This is an assignment for volunteers comfortable interacting with audiences and presenters.
- Take pictures and post on social media, such as FaceBook, Twitter, LinkedIn, et al.
